Armenian regulator again penalizes water distribution company
YEREVAN, February 6. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) has ruled today to penalize Veolia Jur national water distribution company in the amount of 10 million drams (about $20,700) for ‘ongoing breaches of water supply requirements.’

According to Sergey Aghinyan, head of a PSRC’s unit in charge of development and monitoring, a set of inspections conducted in the third quarter of 2018, revealed that the company failed to comply with the deadlines for water supply and waste water removal, set back in 2016.

He said a total of 154 such breaches were revealed. At the same time, Aghinyan noted that in some cases the delay in the provision of services was due to gaps in the legislation, but the bulk of cases resulted from the company's failure to fulfill its direct obligations.

PSRC said since the company has been fined more than once for various violations, it decided to impose sanctions on the company in the maximum amount.

Earlier this year the  State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) ruled to penalize Veolia Jur in the amount of 20 million drams (about $41 thousand) for the violation of the antitrust law and in the amount of 10 million drams for the failure to connect new subscribers to the network in due time.

Veolia Jur CJSC (a subsidiary of the French Veolia Generale des Eaux) is the only national water distribution operator in the country.  ($ 1 - AMD 487.88). -0-
