Armenian customs officers foiled an attempt to illegally export 17 tons of coffee to Russia
YEREVAN, January 24. /ARKA/. Armenian customs officers foiled an attempt to illegally export 17 tons of coffee to Russia, the State Revenue Committee (SRC) reported.
According to it, the attempt was foiled after customs officers checked a truck loaded with the cargo of two Armenian-registered companies - Agat Ashot LLC and Cafe Dieu BRAZI LLC at Bagratashen checkpoint on the border with Georgia.
According to the accompanying documents, a number of products were to be transported from Armenia to Russia, including coffee, mineral water, etc.
Customs officers found out that the weight of the coffee batch indicated in the documents was less than the actual weight, while the weight of other cheaper goods was overstated, thus the total weight was preserved.
According to the SRC's preliminary assessment, the purpose of this illegal scheme was the shadow sale of the company's commodity balances in Armenia, disguising it in shipping documents as export to the EEU countries in order to get VAT refund on the purchase and, accordingly, to conceal VAT charged on the sale of coffee in Armenia.
The SRC stated that large-scale measures are currently underway to find out all the details of this scheme. --0--
