Armenia: all electronic traffic control systems come under state control

YEREVAN, October 20 /ARKA/. All electronic traffic control systems in Armenia have come under state control, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced at a government meeting today.

"We decided earlier that all electronic means of traffic control: speed radars, cameras - which were leased to a private company - will be returned to the government management. A state non-profit organization has been set up under the police, and the transfer process has been completed today," Pashinyan said.

He noted that the government conducted tenders expecting that more favorable terms would be offered , but that didn't happen and that's why the systems have been transferred under the control of the Police.

The non-profit organization set up in July 2022 will not only manage the video surveillance system on the streets and roads of the country, but will be also connected to the monitoring and control of street parking areas, video systems at stores, pharmacies, shopping centers, banks, casinos and gaming halls and other facilities. Fines collected for administrative offenses in this area will be transferred to the state budget. -0-
