Armenia and Israel Explore Opportunities for Economic Collaboration and Joint Investment Initiatives
YEREVAN, December 24. /ARKA/. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan met with Israeli Ambassador to Armenia Yoel Lion to discuss the potential for economic collaboration between Armenia and Israel.
The discussions focused on enhancing trade volume and the feasibility of launching joint investment initiatives, along with partnerships in agriculture, water resource management, and tourism.
Papoyan shared insights about the TRIPP (Trump Route) and Crossroads of Peace projects, which aim to open up regional transport routes. He also extended an invitation to Lion to attend the Crossroads of Peace investment summit in Armenia, set for 2026.
Ashot Shahmuradyan, the Honorary Consul of the State of Israel, was present at the meeting.
The relationship between Armenia and Israel is notably intricate. Tensions resurfaced in the fall of 2020 when Israel sold arms (including radars, anti-tank missiles, grenade launchers, and night vision equipment) to Azerbaijan, which were utilized during the 44-day conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. Yerevan urged Tel Aviv to cease this lethal trade with Azerbaijan, highlighting the significant risk it posed to Armenian-Israeli relations.
However, the dynamics shifted recently: on November 27, 2025, the 12th round of political consultations between the Armenian and Israeli Foreign Ministries took place in Jerusalem. Both nations expressed their willingness to strengthen ties, particularly in the political and economic domains, including high technology, healthcare, agriculture, and tourism.-0-
