YEREVAN, May 2. /ARKA/. Ameriabank plans to introduce new digital services for customers in the near future, Hovhannes Toroyan, head of the Center for Business and Strategy Research at Ameriabank, told an online interview on Friday.
“Innovation has always been important to us. We have invested quite a lot of money and continue to invest in innovative banking services and have already introduced a number of them and others will be introduced soon. We will provide our customers with new digital services that we did not have before. We also intend to simplify the existing digital services to make them more accessible to our customers,' he said.
In this context, he spoke about cashless payments. Toroyan noted that in comparison with several years earlier the number of cashless payments has increased significantly. He also emphasized the importance of this process in the context of the fight against the shadow economy.
"We carry out incentive campaigns with various entrepreneurs, the purpose of which is to win people's trust and make them learn that using funds in a non-cash way is much safer. Ameriabank will introduce a number of initiatives in this direction that will stimulate non-cash payments," he said.
At the same time, he noted that the development of contactless payments in Armenia is lagging behind, because NFC-technologies (for exchanging information between devices localized at a distance of 10 cm - ed.) are not open to everyone.
“I am sure that at some point the positive trend in the non-cash payments will become an incentive for joint efforts to open these technologies for Armenia. In search of an alternative to this, we found intermediate solutions - these are small stickers that are attached to one's banking card and which can be attached also to phones," said Toroyan.
He also expressed the opinion that the situation created due to the coronavirus opens up many opportunities, because due to changing requirements, those financial institutions that can satisfy them may benefit.
Under the current conditions, he believes, it is important to work actively in the direction of introducing innovations.
“That is why we did not stop the development of some technologies, but rather tried to speed up this process. The market will be ready to introduce new technologies much earlier. Moreover, this applies not only to the end user. There’s a lot of work behind streamlining and automating the back office," said Toroyan.
Ameriabank CJSC is one of the fastest growing digital and largest financial institutions in the country. Being the first investment and universal bank in the country, it provides a wide range of innovative corporate, investment and retail banking services in a comprehensive package.
