Russian flag carrier Aeroflot said it will stop flying to Damascus from August 6 due to law demand.
YEREVAN, July 24. /ARKA/. Russian flag carrier Aeroflot said it will stop flying to Damascus from August 6 due to law demand.
“We will stop flights to Damascus due to low demand touched off by military actions. We hope to transport out of Syria everyone who wishes till the 6th of August,” RBC reports.
Currently, Moscow-Damascus-Moscow flights are available for July 27 and 30, as well as August 3 and 6.
After Aeroflot stops flights, Moscow-Damascus-Moscow flights will be operated by Syrian Air.
Earlier it became known that European Union had today approved the additional sanctions against Syria which more strictly ban weapons delivery to the country as well as increase the list of restrictions against the state authorities. Moreover, EU finance ministers froze assets of 26 individuals associated with the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. These individuals are also denied an entry to EU member states. Within the new sanctions European companies are not allowed to deal with the three Syrian companies.
Since March of 2011 Syria is immersed in clashes between the state authorities and opposition. . The opposition demands Assad to step up accusing the authorities of violence against civilians. Damascus officially claims “banks of armed terrorists” supported by foreign radical islamists under the guise of democratic principles are trying to get the power in the country. Over 17,000 people have died in the armed clashes.—0--
