EBRD senior officials visit Armenia

Olivier Descamps, Managing Director for Turkey, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will visit Armenia during 6-7 March, the EBRD Yerevan Office reported.
YEREVAN, March 6. /ARKA/. Olivier Descamps, Managing Director for Turkey, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will visit Armenia during 6-7 March, the EBRD Yerevan Office reported. It said Olivier Descamps is joined by Paul-Henri Forestier, the EBRD Director for Caucasus, Moldova & Belarus.
The EBRD delegation plans to meet the Armenian authorities including Tigran Sargsyan, Prime Minister; Tigran Davtyan, Minister of Economy and Armenian Governor to EBRD; Vache Gabrielyan, Minister of Finance; Armen Movsissyan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources as well as Arthur Javadyan the Governor of Central Bank.
The EBRD delegation will also hold meetings with members of the business and diplomatic communities and representatives of international financial institutions in the country.
The purpose of the visit is to get an update on the reform priorities of the Armenian Government and the concrete role that the EBRD can play in supporting those priorities in the context of the forthcoming EBRD Country Strategy for Armenia for 2012-2015. The priorities of the new Country Strategy for Armenia are expected to include strengthening the country’s financial sector and supporting the development of the private sector, including support for small and medium-sized businesses in Armenia.
The EBRD is one of the largest investors in Armenia. Since the beginning of its operations there in 1992, the EBRD has invested over €516 million in 106 projects in the country’s financial, corporate, energy and infrastructure sectors. -0-
