IMF recommends additional changes for Armenian tax program-newspaper

YEREVAN, June 28. /ARKA/. International Monetary Fund recommends to Armenian government to make additional changes in tax program, Orakarg (Agenda) newspaper reports on Thursday.

IMF suggested that Armenia should abolish VAT exemption privileges for diesel fuel and raise excise taxes, according to the source. However, the recommendations were rejected by the Armenian authorities, the newspaper notes.

Nevertheless, IMF called on the authorities to kick off earlier tax activities projected for 2015 as well as to reconsider the rejected recommendations. IMF experts underscored importance of making improvements in tax administration.

The newspaper also notes that the tax strategy is focusing on making significant political decisions in 2015. Particularly it refers to introduction of mechanisms of income tax for military servants, income tax exemption for peasants, and abolishment of some kinds of tax privileges for particular goods. -0-
